Importance of celebrating festivals
I have fond memories of celebrating festivals with my family in my childhood. And while celebrating those festivals, I decided that I want my future family also to have this whole experience. With the kind of person I am, I wanted to add more energy, excitement and enthusiasm in my own ways to them.
With the diversity, comes many religions, and with them comes many cultures and traditions. Each religion has its unique festivals and specific ways to celebrate these festivals.
We all are occupied with multiple tasks every day, and yes, life is busy. Sometimes to catch up to a person living in the same home becomes a challenge. A family must use this as an opportunity to come together and create beautiful experiences.
I would like to share some benefits of celebrating festivals as a family and how it can change your entire perspective towards it
I) Positive energy: Festivals, no doubt, brings a lot of positivity in the house. The complete aura changes when the festival arrives. It lifts your spirit, and whatever is your state of mind, it lifts you up to resonate with optimism.
II) New Beginnings: It helps you create new beginnings at whatever stage you are in your life. You will feel like starting afresh!
III) Brings family together: It’s an opportunity to bring together the complete family as well as extended family. Imagine how life would be if we had only the mundane tasks to do!
IV) Keeps Faith: Faith is a powerful term which keeps you together in the times of fear. When nothing goes right, only faith keeps you sailing through without quitting. Festivals help you keep your faith intact and pushes you to keep going forward.
V) Beautiful Memories: With new costumes, decorations, sweets and all the excitement in the air, we create beautiful memories.
VI) Roots: Festivals become a medium to stay connected to our foundation. It’s a way to teach our children about our heritage, culture and traditions, so they can pass this on to generations ahead and keep the family rituals going on. It’s a way to connect to our origin.
VII) Mythological: Festivals have an origin, and their origin lies in mythological stories behind them. It’s nice to make our children know these stories and how our festivals originated from them. These stories are quite fascinating, helps you learn many life lessons from them, enriched with knowledge and morals.
I always look forward to celebrating festivals with my family. We celebrate festivals with excitement and new energy. We wear traditional costumes and cook festival specific food ( Kids are quite happy to know that their favourite dishes gets cooked). We all make sweets sitting together and enjoy family time, which instils the festive feeling in everyone. We decorate home with relevant decorations, and yes, the most important part is we pray and perform Pooja thanking God for whatever he has blessed us till date and pray for continual guidance from him.
It does create beautiful memories in our children’s mind, which they will carry and cherish for years ahead!
so true
